African Savannah | The Price of Surviving the Lion | FULL EPISODE | Wildlife Documentary. At dawn in Ngorongoro Crater, Tanzania, a bull buffalo backs into a marsh and turns to face an entire lion pride on ground the lions cannot hold. Across four hours of chained chapters, every animal on the African savannah pays its own price for surviving the lion, from the smallest cubs to the herds that turn and fight back. Through cinematic footage and educational storytelling, the first hour asks how high that price can climb. On the crater floor, four hundred hyenas outnumber sixty lions, and every lion alive descends from about fifteen survivors of a 1962 plague of biting flies. On the frozen rim, two claimants fight for the throne under manes darkened by the cold. Then the story climbs to where the lion cannot follow: an Ethiopian wolf that triples its hunting success by walking inside a troop of gelada, walia ibex down to three hundred six, a bearded vulture that lives on bone, and the Himalaya, where musk deer duel with fangs, a snow leopard loses its prey to the cliffs and its meal to a wolf pack, a pika survives the winter on yak dung, and bar headed geese cross the roof of the world at night. How high can life climb? Exactly as far as it can still pay. 0:00 Nowhere Is Truly Safe 0:16 Ngorongoro: a Kingdom in a Stone Bowl 1:18 The Buffalo That Fought on Home Ground 2:25 A Ladder Twenty Nine Thousand Feet Tall 4:21 Four Hundred Hyenas, Sixty Lions 4:55 A Dynasty Behind a Wall of Rock 5:37 Two Claimants on the Frozen Rim 6:38 The Black Mane 7:25 How High Can a Lion Climb 8:49 Ethiopian Wolf: King of the Sky Grassland 10:05 The Mole Rat Clock 11:00 Hunting With the Gelada 12:48 The Grass Eating Monkey 13:53 Walia Ibex: Three Hundred Six Left 15:20 The Bone Eater 18:00 Into the Himalaya 19:05 Musk Deer: Fangs Instead of Antlers 20:23 Duel in the Snow 21:53 Monal and Red Panda 22:40 Himalayan Tahr: King of the Cliffs 24:43 Snow Leopard vs Bharal 26:51 The Cat That Cannot Roar 28:02 The Pika: Keystone of the Roof of the World 30:17 The Red Fox Mousing Leap 31:53 Wild Yak vs Himalayan Wolves 35:18 Two Kings, One Unsigned Treaty 38:08 Wolves Rob the Snow Leopard 41:22 Bar Headed Geese and the Death Zone 45:06 The Ghost Returns to Everest 46:52 The Ledger of Debts 48:33 Back to the Stone Bowl 51:02 Surviving the Lion: Cubs of the Savannah 1:51:02 Lions vs Buffalo: the Herd Fights Back 2:51:02 Lions vs Hyenas: War for the Carcass Epic Moments in This Documentary: A bull buffalo turning on the whole pride from the safety of the marsh Two claimants colliding for the throne on a frozen crater rim An Ethiopian wolf hunting mole rats inside a troop of gelada monkeys A bearded vulture dropping a bone onto the same rock it has used for years Two musk deer dueling with fangs in the snow A snow leopard dropping on bharal as the herd escapes onto a vertical wall A red fox punching through the snow onto a hidden pika A wild yak herd closing ranks around a calf as Himalayan wolves circle A wolf pack taking a meal from a snow leopard in the Spiti Valley Bar headed geese crossing the Himalaya in the dark Lions of the savannah and the animals that must survive them, in the chained chapters Behind the drama is a system. The thinner the air, the higher the cost of living, and every floor of the sky keeps only those who can pay: the yak in mass, the pika in thrift, the Ethiopian wolf in alliance, the bearded vulture in bone. Above twenty six thousand feet no mammal lives and no bird nests. And where people chose to stop, the ghost came back: Nepal now counts about three hundred ninety seven snow leopards, and one was photographed near Everest Base Camp at eighteen thousand feet. Ultimate Predators: Kings of the Savannah | FULL EPISODE | Wildlife Documentary. On the burning sand of the Namib, a lone gemsbok lowers thirty three inches of horn and a whole lion pride cannot break through. Across four hours of chained chapters, the kings of the savannah are followed to the edge of their world and set against every other great hunter, to answer one question: is the largest predator the freest of all, or a prisoner of its own menu? Through cinematic footage and educational storytelling, the first hour crosses two continents. Desert lions of Namibia bring down a giraffe in the dry Hoanib riverbed and stay beside it for seven days through a sandstorm, while a pride on the Skeleton Coast holds a home range of 1,825 square miles, the largest ever recorded. Orphaned lionesses learn to hunt cormorants and Cape fur seals on the Atlantic shore, until 86 percent of their food comes from the sea. Then the smallest cat in Africa, the black footed cat, lands six pounces in ten while a lion lands one in seven. In the dry forest of Tadoba, a Bengal tiger with no pride to share the bill is exposed by langur alarm calls, a dhole pack takes its larder, and a sloth bear mother with a cub on her back charges a male tiger at a shrinking waterhole. 0:00 Is the Strongest Truly Free 0:45 Namib: a Gemsbok Holds Off the Pride 2:48 Thirty Three Inches of Horn 4:17 The Forty Seven Pound Line 6:14 The Prey Window 8:11 Desert Lions vs Giraffe 11:04 Seven Days Beside a Giraffe 11:42 Why Lions Live in Prides 13:11 The Largest Home Range Ever Recorded 15:38 Porcupines: Stooping Below the Line 16:18 Skeleton Coast: Orphaned Lions Hunt Seals 21:07 From Cormorant to Giraffe 22:30 The Black Footed Cat 25:15 Six Pounces in Ten 27:13 Tadoba: a King With No Pride 29:52 Langurs and Chital: the Two Tier Alarm 31:12 The Tiger Ambush That Failed 33:12 One Meal Every Eight Days 36:35 Dholes: the Pack on the Line 39:29 Dholes vs Tiger at the Carcass 42:15 The Sloth Bear: a Storehouse of Termites 47:35 Sloth Bear vs Tiger 49:14 The Mother Bear Charges 52:15 The Weight Scale From Bottom to Top 54:30 Freedom Is Measured in Ways to Eat 58:00 Kings of the Savannah: Lions vs Zebra 1:58:00 The Lion Pride on the Open Plain 2:58:00 Kings of the Savannah: Rivals at the Carcass Epic Moments in This Documentary: A lone gemsbok facing a whole lion pride without taking a single step back Desert lions bringing down a giraffe at dusk in the Hoanib riverbed A pride staying seven days beside one giraffe through a sandstorm Orphaned lionesses hunting sleeping cormorants on a foggy Atlantic beach Lions stalking a Cape fur seal colony on the Skeleton Coast A black footed cat landing pounce after pounce through one night Langur alarm calls exposing a Bengal tiger ambush at a waterhole A dhole pack running a relay chase through the monsoon forest Ten dholes standing their ground across a carcass from a tiger A sloth bear prying open a termite mound with three inch claws A mother sloth bear with her cub on her back charging a male tiger African lions hunting zebra on the open savannah in the chained chapters Behind the drama is a system. Above a line of about 47 pounds, every land predator must hunt prey as heavy as itself, so the bigger the body, the shorter the menu. A lion hunting alone in Etosha succeeds only 2.3 percent of the time against 27 percent for a pride, a tiger in Kanha needs ten to twenty ambushes for one meal, and the predators that escape the law are those that find prey gathered in a crowd: rodents in the grass, seals on the beach, termites in the mound. Lions and tigers are both listed as threatened, and the prey base of the northern Namib has fallen by up to 60 percent in a decade. African Lion | The Price of the Deadliest Battles | FULL EPISODE | Wildlife Documentary. At dawn on the Serengeti a lioness misses by half a beat and pays for it with two days of hunger, because three of every four lion hunts end empty handed. Across four hours of chained chapters, the African lion fights the deadliest battles of the savanna, and every weapon in the wild comes with a bill. Through cinematic footage and educational storytelling, the first hour reads nature as a ledger. A pride digs for hours to pull a warthog from an old aardvark burrow, takes up to half its food from hyenas, and steps around a python at Kruger rather than risk a single wound. Then the film follows the price of the deadliest weapons on Earth: a black mamba that hates to spend its venom, a mongoose whose nerves the venom cannot open, a deathstalker scorpion eaten by a bat that shrugs off its sting, an inland taipan with enough venom for a hundred people that has never killed one, a golden poison frog whose toxin is rented from its diet, a giant centipede snatching bats from a cave ceiling in Venezuela, a pufferfish and a blue ringed octopus sharing one molecule, a cone snail that breathes insulin over a sleeping shoal, a king cobra that eats other snakes, and a Komodo dragon whose real weapon was hidden in its jaw. Epic Moments in This Documentary: A lioness missing by half a beat and walking into two days of hunger A pride digging for hours as a warthog bursts from a hidden side tunnel A whole lion pride stepping around a single python at Kruger A black mamba climbing to a weaver nest without moving a branch A mongoose circling a nine foot mamba until it overreaches A desert bat eating a deathstalker scorpion while the stings keep landing An inland taipan threading into the clay cracks of Channel Country A giant centipede snatching a bat in flight from a cave ceiling A pufferfish swelling into a ball of spikes in a predator mouth A king cobra rising five feet and growling before the fight A Komodo dragon charging from a trail edge in Indonesia African lions facing buffalo on the open plain in the chained chapters Behind the drama is a system. No weapon is cheap, the bill only changes currency: the lion pays in hunger and scars, the mamba in venom that takes days to rebuild, the poison frog in a diet it can never change. Every year 81,000 to 138,000 people still die of snakebite, mostly where antivenom is scarce, while the same arsenals have given medicine a heart drug, a painkiller stronger than morphine, and a molecule that lights up brain tumors for surgeons. The golden poison frog and the Komodo dragon are both Endangered. This documentary contains raw, unfiltered footage of nature at its most intense. Viewer discretion is advised. All footage is captured in the wild with no interference to natural animal behavior.

Apex Predators vs Prey | Herbivores and Carnivores | FULL EPISODE | Wildlife Documentary. Inside the Ngorongoro Crater of Tanzania, 25,000 wildebeest, zebra and buffalo live their whole lives inside a ring of rock they can never leave, and the lions and hyenas that hunt them can never leave either. Across four hours of chained chapters, apex predators and their prey face each other behind the greatest walls in nature, where the fortress that protects is also the fortress that charges the toll. Through cinematic footage and educational storytelling, the first hour follows two walled kingdoms. In the crater, a hyena charges the gap between a wildebeest mother and her calf, a male lion holds a carcass against a whole clan, and eight hyena clans tracked for thirty years turn out to hunt most of their own meals. With nowhere to be exiled, old age gathers in plain sight: bull elephants with tusks brushing the grass, lone buffalo dagga boys, and two former kings with worn teeth who spend three days hunting one old bull before a younger pride takes the prize. Then the story crosses to Antarctica, where emperor penguins walk willingly into the winter, past a leopard seal at the door, to fast for 115 days in a living wall of bodies, until their chicks must leap from a 50 foot ice cliff into the sea. 0:00 A Paradise With No Way Out 0:40 Ngorongoro: the Fortress in the Fog 2:50 Hyena vs Wildebeest Mother 4:23 How the Wall Was Built 6:45 A Kingdom That Never Migrates 8:20 The Hyena Clans: 30 Years of Records 9:13 Lions vs Hyenas at the Carcass 12:13 The Scavenger That Hunts 12:52 Old Age Has Nowhere to Hide 13:40 Bull Elephants and Dagga Boys 16:33 Hyenas vs Zebra: the Daily Roll Call 19:06 Reading Time in the Mouth of a Lion 21:27 Kings Do Not Die Here, They Wear Down 22:10 Six Sets of Teeth: the Elephant Clock 24:00 Two Old Kings on the Margin 25:34 Old Lions vs Old Buffalo: the Final 27:34 A Young Pride Takes the Prize 29:49 The Plague of 1962 and the Founders 33:22 Antarctica: a Wall of Ice 35:38 Emperor Penguins vs Leopard Seal 37:29 The March Into the Winter Night 39:22 115 Days of Fasting 40:27 The Storm and the Living Wall 43:15 Born on the Feet of a Father 45:57 Giant Petrel vs the Creche 50:56 The 50 Foot Cliff at Atka Bay 55:03 Halley Bay: the Door Slams Shut 56:53 Two Walls, Two Clocks 59:00 Apex Predators vs Prey: Lions vs Buffalo 1:59:00 Hyenas vs Lions: Rivals of the Savannah 2:59:00 Predators of the African Plains Epic Moments in This Documentary: A wildebeest mother wheeling on a hyena to save her calf in the fog A male lion stepping toward an arc of hyenas closing on his carcass A whole hyena clan fleeing as the pride arrives at the carcass Hyenas pushing a zebra herd to read which stride is slowing Old bull elephants feeding in the Lerai forest with tusks to the ground Two old lions baiting and flanking a buffalo deep in the mud A young pride arriving and the old kings backing away without a fight An emperor penguin escaping a leopard seal in a burst of bubbles Thousands of males packed into a huddle as a winter storm hits A giant petrel diving at a creche of chicks on the ice Seven hundred chicks leaping from a 50 foot ice cliff at Atka Bay Lions and hyenas against buffalo and zebra on the savannah in the chained chapters Behind the drama is a system. Walls charge a toll in both directions. Behind the stone wall of Ngorongoro, prey never migrate and predators never leave, so the fallen stay to grow old: by about age ten most wild lions carry damaged teeth, elephants wear through their sixth and final set of molars by about 65, and after a plague of biting flies in 1962 cut the crater lions to about a dozen, every lion there today descends from 15 founders, with only one outside male breeding in 48 years. Behind the ice wall of Antarctica, a male emperor penguin burns 40 to 45 percent of his body through 115 days of fasting, and the huddle cuts the energy use of each bird by about a quarter. The emperor penguin is Near Threatened, and when the sea ice fails, as at Halley Bay from 2016, whole colonies lose their chicks. The Most Dangerous Lions | Hostile Planet | FULL EPISODE | Wildlife Documentary. Dawn on the Serengeti, and 1.3 million wildebeest begin the longest walk of their lives, straight through lion country, where every pride holds the ground the herd is forced to cross. Across four hours of chained chapters, the most dangerous lions on Earth collect their toll from the great migration, while cheetahs, hyenas, crocodiles and killer whales wait at every bend of the route, because on a hostile planet the predators never need to chase: they only need to wait. Epic Moments in This Documentary: A cheetah exploding from the grass and winning the chase in one turn A lioness rising from the tall grass as the herd shatters around her A hyena singling out a late born calf on the plains of Ndutu Tens of thousands of wildebeest piling up on the banks of the Mara The river surface tearing open as a crocodile takes a swimmer midstream Vultures and marabou storks blanketing the shallows after the crossing A humpback mother lifting her calf onto her back as killer whales circle Turtle hatchlings racing ghost crabs down the beach at night Sockeye salmon leaping into the jaws of a brown bear at Brooks Falls Arctic terns driving a polar bear away from a chick on the gravel Millions of monarch butterflies cloaking the firs of central Mexico Lion prides hunting the migration herds in the chained chapters Behind the drama is a system. Predators do not follow the herds, they own the bottlenecks: lions in the Serengeti bring down prey not where it is most plentiful but where it is easiest to catch, hyenas spend up to 62 percent of the year commuting to the herds, and a Nile crocodile can go more than a year without a meal. Yet four decades of Serengeti data show that about 75 percent of migration deaths come from hunger, not predators, and at the Mara River the crocodiles eat only about 2 percent of the 6,250 wildebeest that drown each year. The toll feeds the route itself: wildebeest bones feed the Mara for seven years, and salmon carcasses supply up to 75 percent of the nitrogen in the forests of British Columbia. The Most Dangerous Predators of the African Savanna | FULL EPISODE | Wildlife Documentary follows the lion, the cheetah, the Nile crocodile and the gray wolf through two hungry seasons: the long dry season on the Serengeti, when every buffalo herd must come back to the Seronera River to drink, and a deep winter in Yellowstone, where the wolves brought back in 1995 hunt elk and bison in the snow. A hunter does not look for the fastest prey. It looks for a slower step. Through cinematic footage and educational storytelling, this documentary follows a lion pride that must hunt together or go hungry together. A lioness weighs around 280 pounds and a full grown African buffalo around 1,900, so when a herd bolts from a waterhole straight into the waiting pride, it takes the whole family to bring one down. At midday, a cheetah pushed into the hottest hours by lions and spotted hyenas chases an impala and gives up, and sensors on wild cheetahs in Namibia showed they stop to save energy, not because they overheat. Elephants dig wells in the dry riverbed that research in Ruaha and Kunene found far cleaner than the fouled pools, and a serval's oversized ears turn eighty one of every hundred pounces into a meal. What follows is the part most savannah films leave out. At dawn, a clan of spotted hyenas surrounds the pride over a single carcass and nobody wins. On the Grumeti, a giant Nile crocodile locks onto a buffalo's muzzle and the herd turns back to drive it off. Half a world away, a bull elk backs into a freezing Yellowstone river to hold off the pack, a red fox dives through the snow guided by Earth's magnetic field, and the wolves finally bring down a bison and a cow elk five times their weight, feeding ravens, bald eagles and coyotes through the winter. A hungry season does not measure a king by the times he wins. Epic Moments in This Documentary: A lioness wading through a muddy waterhole toward a buffalo herd A lion pride pulling down a 1,900 pound African buffalo in the shallows A cheetah chasing an impala through the midday heat of the Serengeti An elephant digging a clean water well in a dry riverbed A serval leaping straight up to pounce on prey it can only hear Lions and spotted hyenas facing off over a single carcass at dawn A Nile crocodile erupting from a Grumeti pool onto a buffalo A Yellowstone wolf pack bringing down a bison in deep snow ▶ Watch next: Apex Predators vs Prey | Herbivores and Carnivores → 📺 Full series:

The Most Dangerous Lions in the Deadliest Battles | FULL EPISODE | Wildlife Documentary follows the lion, the elephant, the spotted hyena and the giraffe through the end of the dry season on the Savuti grassland of northern Botswana, where a pride of lions sleeps up to twenty hours a day and every other species pays for it, and then carries the same question into the ocean, from Monterey Bay in California to Seal Island in South Africa. Here, rank is measured in the hours you dare to close your eyes. Through cinematic footage and educational storytelling, this documentary measures the price of sleep for every animal that lives beside the lion. Free living wildebeest sleep only four and a half hours a day, and a single distant roar raises the time a herd spends on watch from about one percent to nearly thirty six. Elephants in Chobe sleep just two hours a day, mostly on their feet, and can stay awake for forty six hours while walking nearly nineteen miles. Spotted hyenas in the Maasai Mara pack almost all of their activity into the hours lions are least awake. And at the end of the dry season, when the zebra and wildebeest have left for Linyanti, the lions of Savuti turn to the only prey big enough to feed the whole pride: young elephants, taken on moonless nights, on average one every three days. What follows is the part almost no wildlife documentary shows. Angolan giraffes in Namibia allow themselves less than nine minutes of deep dreaming a night, while one sentinel neck stands guard against a lioness in the grass. In Monterey Bay, California sea lions sleep in floating rafts above a submarine canyon where killer whales rise unseen, and southern sea otters wrap themselves in kelp yet still carry the marks of white shark test bites. On Seal Island, 64,000 Cape fur seals sleep safely on bare rock, but every meal means passing a door of deep water at dawn, in the two hours when great white sharks strike most often. On land, others pay for the sleep of the strongest. At sea, every animal pays for its own. Epic Moments in This Documentary: A pride of lions lunging into the dust where a wildebeest herd stood a second earlier Elephants walking through the Savuti night on just two hours of sleep A clan of spotted hyenas pacing the calf at the back of the elephant line A lion pride closing in on a young elephant on a moonless night A lioness creeping toward resting giraffes guarded by one upright neck A lioness standing her ground inside a ring of spotted hyenas Killer whales rising from the Monterey canyon beneath a raft of sea lions A great white shark breaching at Seal Island as a fur seal pup twists away

Lion vs Buffalo | Clash of Savannah Gods | FULL EPISODE | Wildlife Documentary. In August on the Masai Mara, a lion pride is forced to cross a river owned by a Nile crocodile, and only one animal fails to reach the far bank. Across four hours of chained chapters, the gods of the African savannah collide: lions against Cape buffalo on the open grass, lions against the crocodile at the water, and a hyena clan that wins by counting. Every crown, it turns out, stops at the water. Through cinematic footage and educational storytelling, the first hour follows the three kingdoms of the Mara River. A Nile crocodile that can hold one stretch of river for decades guards its nest against a hyena raid. Spotted hyenas and lionesses each count the voices of strangers before they fight, until a single male lion steps out of the dark and ends the battle for the carcass. The Great Migration pours into the crossings, and two lion brothers on the Kazinga Channel in Uganda swim almost a mile through crocodile water. Then the story crosses the Atlantic to the Pantanal in Brazil, where the river lord is a small yacare caiman, and a jaguar launches out of the water to take it, while a family of giant otters drives a jaguar back and the fishing jaguars of Taiamã share one river in peace. 0:00 Every Crown Stops at the Water 1:03 Masai Mara: the Pride Must Cross 2:56 Lions vs Nile Crocodile at the Crossing 5:05 The Nile Crocodile: Gatekeeper of the River 6:54 The Strongest Bite Ever Measured 8:33 The Crocodile Mother vs Hyenas 11:17 Spotted Hyenas: a Kingdom With No Land 14:32 The Lion: King of the Grass 15:55 At the Border Even a King Drinks Like a Thief 17:57 Crocodile Ambush at the Waterhole 20:28 Lions and Hyenas Can Count 21:59 Hyenas vs Lions: the Battle for the Carcass 24:03 One Male Lion Changes Everything 25:24 The Great Migration Crossing 28:33 6,250 Lives a Year: the River Harvest 30:17 Kazinga Channel: Two Lions Swim 33:54 Pantanal: a River With No Owner 37:24 The Yacare Caiman 39:57 Jaguar vs Caiman: the Missed Pounce 41:43 The Capybara 43:47 The Jaguar: the Cat That Swims 47:03 Jaguar Attacks Caiman From the Water 49:30 Giant Otters vs Jaguar 51:39 Taiamã: the Fishing Jaguars 54:35 The Arithmetic of Power 56:51 Fire in the Pantanal 59:06 Two Rivers, Two Kings 1:01:53 Lion vs Buffalo: Clash of Savannah Gods 2:01:53 Lions vs Hyenas: Rivals of the Mara 3:01:53 Crocodiles of the Mara River Epic Moments in This Documentary: A lion pride swimming the Mara River as the young ones fight the current The river surface erupting beneath the crossing pride A crocodile mother charging out of the water to save her nest from hyenas A lion pride bracing at the waterhole as jaws launch from the surface A hyena clan closing on a carcass from three sides in the dark One male lion stepping out under the stars and stopping the whole clan The Great Migration collapsing into the river at the crossing Two lion brothers swimming almost a mile through crocodile water at night A jaguar rising out of the river behind a caiman on a sandbar A giant otter family screaming and pushing a jaguar back into the forest Jaguars fishing side by side along one river at Taiamã Lions and Cape buffalo clashing on the open savannah in the chained chapters Behind the drama is a system. Strength in the wild is a division, not a number: a lion of five hundred pounds will swim, yet it kneels at a river guarded by a crocodile several times its weight, while a jaguar of two hundred fifty pounds swims straight into water ruled by caiman half its size. On the Mara, an average of 6,250 wildebeest drown each year at the crossings, feeding the river for years. In the Pantanal, the 2020 fires burned close to a third of the region, and a living jaguar brings in about 56 times more through tourism than it costs ranchers. World's Most Dangerous Predators | FULL EPISODE | Wildlife Documentary. In western Tanzania a lioness is thrown into the air by a buffalo the pride could not hold, and that failure is the first lesson in the toughest school on Earth. Across four hours of chained chapters, the most dangerous predators in the world are followed from birth to the final exam, because no king is born a king: lions, killer whales and great white sharks all have to learn the trade, and the wild never lowers the tuition. Through cinematic footage and educational storytelling, the first hour crosses three oceans and four continents. In Katavi National Park a lioness moves her blind cubs to a fourth den in a single month to stay ahead of a hyena clan, the pride raises its young in a shared nursery, and lionesses hunt zebra on a moonless night in fixed positions as wings and centre, until a herd of buffalo charges straight through the nursery. At Punta Norte in Patagonia, killer whales teach their calves to ride the surf onto the beach after sea lion pups. In Shark Bay, dolphins wear sponges like gloves in a trade passed from mother to daughter. Loggerhead hatchlings run the gauntlet of ghost crabs and frigatebirds with no teacher at all. At Seal Island in False Bay, great white sharks launch from the dark at dawn, until two orcas arrive off Gansbaai and the greatest fish predator in the ocean becomes prey. Epic Moments in This Documentary: A lioness thrown into the air as the buffalo herd counter charges A lioness standing between a hyena and the thicket where her cubs lie Lion cubs stalking a lizard in their very first hunting lesson Lionesses closing on a zebra herd in total darkness from three sides A buffalo herd charging through the lion nursery as the mothers stand firm A young male lion leaving the pride for an empty horizon A young killer whale stranded on the shingle and pushed back by an adult An orca exploding through the surf after a sea lion pup at Punta Norte A dolphin wearing a sponge to search the rubble of Shark Bay Turtle hatchlings racing ghost crabs and frigatebirds to the sea A great white shark breaching clear of the water at dawn off Seal Island Two orcas driving the white sharks out of a whole bay Lions, killer whales and big cats in the chained chapters Behind the drama is a system. The deadliest predators are not born deadly, they are taught. Across 486 group hunts, each lioness held her own position in the formation; a young orca needs five or six years before a beach run brings in its first meal; only about one turtle hatchling in a thousand lives to adulthood, with no teacher at all. At Seal Island, white sharks succeeded in 47.3 percent of 2,088 recorded hunts, and 55 percent in the first hour after sunrise. And an orca male over thirty who loses his mother faces about fourteen times the risk of dying the following year, because the oldest female carries the map to the food. This documentary contains raw, unfiltered footage of nature at its most intense. Viewer discretion is advised. All footage is captured in the wild with no interference to natural animal behavior.

Lion vs Crocodile | The Price of Survival | FULL EPISODE | Wildlife Documentary follows the African lion, the Nile crocodile and the Cape buffalo through one dry season in southern Africa, from a river crossing where every path funnels to a single point, to the last waterholes of Hwange in Zimbabwe, the flooded islands of the Okavango Delta and a dam in Kruger National Park where eight minutes of footage became the most famous battle ever filmed in the wild. The temperature touches one hundred four degrees, and one question hangs over the water: does the throne belong to the strongest, or to the one willing to pay for the next battle? Through cinematic footage and educational storytelling, this documentary counts the price of the crown. A lioness loses a zebra at the crossing to a kick that has ended full grown lions. At a shrinking waterhole in Hwange, where thousands of hours of tracking showed that most lion hunts end within about a mile and a quarter of water, she gives up a nyala rather than follow it into the jaws of a Nile crocodile measured at about two thousand five hundred pounds of bite force. The film explains why: across 486 hunts recorded in Etosha, Namibia, a lioness hunting alone succeeded only 2.3 percent of the time, so one hunter lost to a crocodile stalls the whole formation. Then the Duba lions of the Okavango, shoulders thickened by daily swimming, run a red lechwe into water deep enough to drown its speed. What follows is the part the famous Kruger footage never explains. When lions and a crocodile stretch a buffalo calf between them at the water, the herd comes back, because a buffalo herd decides by a vote the researcher Prins documented at Lake Manyara, adult females rising one by one and facing the direction the herd will take. Then the story crosses the Atlantic to the Valdés Peninsula in Patagonia, where the same law runs upside down. A beachmaster elephant seal fasts up to eighty days to hold his strip of gravel, yet DNA shows he fathers only about fifty eight percent of the pups. A right whale mother turns forty tons into a wall, so that of 112 recorded encounters with orcas only eleven percent became real attacks. And thirteen orcas carry the battle onto the beach itself, a craft passed down the mother's line inside a six hour tide window. The crown is not inherited. It is rented. And the rent is paid with the next battle. Epic Moments in This Documentary: A lioness launching into the middle of a zebra crossing at the bottleneck Two hind hooves lashing out half a beat before the paw closes A nyala stepping out of the thicket toward water that hides two hunters A crocodile's jaws snapping shut inches short at the Hwange waterhole Nine lionesses of Duba wading through the Okavango flood toward a lechwe herd The Battle at Kruger: a calf stretched between lions and a crocodile, then a herd returning Two four ton elephant seals hammering chest to chest on the gravel of Valdés Five tons of orca riding a wave onto the beach at Punta Norte and sliding back with the tide
