The River Niger is a 1976 film adaptation of the 1972 Joseph A. Walker play of the same title. The film was directed by Krishna Shah, and starred James Earl Jones, Cicely Tyson, and Louis Gossett Jr. The film had a limited commercial release in 1976 and has rarely been seen in later years. The soundtrack is by War, including the theme song "River Niger". Plot: An intimate look at life in the ghetto: Johnny Williams is a house painter who moonlights as a poet, struggling to financially and emotionally support his cancer-ridden wife Mattie. But times are tough and the poverty-troubled streets are even tougher, and it takes every ounce of Johnny's love and courage for the couple to make it through their strife, finding redemption in the River Niger. Storyline: In a poor African-American neighborhood in Los Angeles, once-aspiring poet Johnny Williams (James Earl Jones) takes a low-paying job as a house painter in order to support his family. Already struggling to make ends meet, Williams -- who rests his hopes on his son Jeff (Glynn Turman), an Air Force lieutenant -- grows more despondent when he learns his wife, Mattie (Cicely Tyson), has terminal cancer. Now, Williams must summon the depths of his spirit to overcome his family's plight. Tagline: Some rivers can't be dammed... some people won't be broken. We do not own the rights to any of this film. “Daylight” out now on all platforms: Lyrics: [Verse 1] Telling myself I won't go there Oh, but I know that I won't care Tryna wash away all the blood I've spilt This lust is a burden that we both share Two sinners can't atone from a lone prayer Souls tied, intertwined by pride and guilt [Pre-Chorus] (Ooh) There's darkness in the distance From the way that I've been livin' (Ooh) But I know I can't resist it [Chorus] Oh, I love it and I hate it at the same time You and I drink the poison from the same vine Oh, I love it and I hate it at the same time Hidin' all of our sins from the daylight From the daylight, runnin' from thе daylight From the daylight, runnin' from the daylight Oh, I love it and I hatе it at the same time [Verse 2] Tellin' myself it's the last time Can you spare any mercy that you might find If I'm down on my knees again? Deep down, way down, Lord, I try Try to follow your light, but it's nighttime Please don't leave me in the end [Pre-Chorus] (Ooh) There's darkness in the distance I'm beggin' for forgiveness (Ooh) But I know I might resist it, oh [Chorus] Oh, I love it and I hate it at the same time You and I drink the poison from the same vine Oh, I love it and I hate it at the same time Hidin' all of our sins from the daylight From the daylight, runnin' from the daylight From the daylight, runnin' from the daylight Oh, I love it and I hate it at the same time Oh, I love it and I hate it at the same time You and I drink the poison from the same vine Oh, I love it and I hate it at the same time Hidin' all of our sins from the daylight From the daylight, runnin' from the daylight From the daylight, runnin' from the daylight Oh, I love it and I hate it at the same time Production Company / Altar 8 Studio CREW Director/Dp - Luke Shaw & Landon Juern 1st AC - Aaron Roams Steadicam - Zachary Stanke Photographer - Lizzy Juern Videographers - Matthew Vietzke & Gerado Manuel Ortiz POST Vfx artist - Ryan Game Editor - Landon Juern Colorist - Luke Shaw TALENT Man on fire - Yonel Cohen Boy - Leo Brien Artist - David Kushner PRODUCTION: Producer - Rob Kirwan Mixing - Jacob Morris / GetMXD Mastering - Jacob Morris / GetMXD Dolby Atmos - Jacob Morris / GetMXD WRITERS: David Kushner Hayden Hubers Jeremy Fedryk Josh Bruce Williams ARTWORK: Jon Taylor Sweet MANAGEMENT: Brent Shows David Kushner Socials • Instagram: • TikTok: • Twitter: • YouTube: / followkush • Facebook: • Website: Miserable Music Group, LLC
