Claudine is a 1974 American romantic comedy-drama film, directed by John Berry. Claudine was written by Lester Pine and Tina Pine, produced by Third World Cinema, and distributed by 20th Century Fox, starring James Earl Jones, Diahann Carroll, and Lawrence Hilton-Jacobs. The film was released on April 22, 1974, grossing about $6 million, a modest hit for the times. It was praised for showing a new dimension in black cinema during the height of blaxploitation. Synopsis: A single mother of six on welfare and a garbage collector fall in love in 1970s Harlem. Plot: Claudine is a single mother on welfare in New York City who endures an exhausting commute to the suburbs where she works as a maid for wealthy families. In one carefully tended white community, she meets Roop, a charismatic but irresponsible garbage collector. Romance quickly ensues, but Claudine doubts that their relationship is good for her six children, and Rupert, despite his good nature, is reluctant to take on fatherhood. Storyline: Diahann Carroll is radiant in an unforgettable, Oscar-nominated performance as Claudine, a strong-willed single mother, raising six kids in Harlem, whose budding relationship with a gregarious garbage collector (an equally fantastic James Earl Jones) is stressed by the difficulty of getting by in an oppressive system. As directed by the formerly blacklisted leftist filmmaker John Berry, this romantic comedy with a social conscience deftly balances warm humor with a serious look at the myriad issues—from cycles of poverty to the indignities of the welfare system—that shape its characters’ realities. The result is an empathetic chronicle of both Black working-class struggle and Black joy, a bittersweet, bighearted celebration of family and community set to a sunny soul soundtrack composed by Curtis Mayfield and performed by Gladys Knight & the Pips. The Bus Is Coming (also known as Ghetto Revenge) is a 1971 American drama film written by Horace Jackson. The film is directed by Wendell James Franklin and stars Mike B. Simms and Burl Bullock. Let's get in a time machine my soul brothers and sisters and take a trip back in time for an early 1970s "blaxploitation" flick. Can you dig it! Storyline: In Center City, bus service has been discontinued because of increased violence in the predominately black community. Most recently, Joe Mitchell, a black, non-violent civil rights leader was killed in his own home by an unknown assailant with no apparent motive. A young black soldier returns home to Los Angeles from combat in Vietnam to find out that his brother had been killed and uncovers a gang of racist cops. Angered, he joins a black nationalist group to take his revenge. Synopsis: Abruptly summoned back to his old Watts neighborhood while serving his tour of duty in Vietnam, young black soldier Mike Simm investigates his brother's recent death and discovers a gang of racist cops and becomes the unlikely voice of moderation between the enraged black militants who want to riot in the streets, and the violent white extremists who are just itching for a race war. Plot: The film is about the death of a prominent Black community member Joe Mitchell, who served on the school board. "The Black Fist," a local black power political organization wants to hold a rally in response to Mitchell's death because the "town must pay it's dues". Billy Mitchell, Joe's brother returns from the Vietnam War and investigates Joe's death. He becomes aware of a gang of racist cops and eventually joins The Black Fist group to seek revenge. Tagline: The MAN Can't Stop It! Don't Miss It! Trivia: Quentin Tarantino remembers seeing this at 8 years old, along with a Jim Brown film as a double feature, and laughing at the African American audience yelling back at the screen. “Daylight” out now on all platforms: Lyrics: [Verse 1] Telling myself I won't go there Oh, but I know that I won't care Tryna wash away all the blood I've spilt This lust is a burden that we both share Two sinners can't atone from a lone prayer Souls tied, intertwined by pride and guilt [Pre-Chorus] (Ooh) There's darkness in the distance From the way that I've been livin' (Ooh) But I know I can't resist it [Chorus] Oh, I love it and I hate it at the same time You and I drink the poison from the same vine Oh, I love it and I hate it at the same time Hidin' all of our sins from the daylight From the daylight, runnin' from thе daylight From the daylight, runnin' from the daylight Oh, I love it and I hatе it at the same time [Verse 2] Tellin' myself it's the last time Can you spare any mercy that you might find If I'm down on my knees again? Deep down, way down, Lord, I try Try to follow your light, but it's nighttime Please don't leave me in the end [Pre-Chorus] (Ooh) There's darkness in the distance I'm beggin' for forgiveness (Ooh) But I know I might resist it, oh [Chorus] Oh, I love it and I hate it at the same time You and I drink the poison from the same vine Oh, I love it and I hate it at the same time Hidin' all of our sins from the daylight From the daylight, runnin' from the daylight From the daylight, runnin' from the daylight Oh, I love it and I hate it at the same time Oh, I love it and I hate it at the same time You and I drink the poison from the same vine Oh, I love it and I hate it at the same time Hidin' all of our sins from the daylight From the daylight, runnin' from the daylight From the daylight, runnin' from the daylight Oh, I love it and I hate it at the same time Production Company / Altar 8 Studio CREW Director/Dp - Luke Shaw & Landon Juern 1st AC - Aaron Roams Steadicam - Zachary Stanke Photographer - Lizzy Juern Videographers - Matthew Vietzke & Gerado Manuel Ortiz POST Vfx artist - Ryan Game Editor - Landon Juern Colorist - Luke Shaw TALENT Man on fire - Yonel Cohen Boy - Leo Brien Artist - David Kushner PRODUCTION: Producer - Rob Kirwan Mixing - Jacob Morris / GetMXD Mastering - Jacob Morris / GetMXD Dolby Atmos - Jacob Morris / GetMXD WRITERS: David Kushner Hayden Hubers Jeremy Fedryk Josh Bruce Williams ARTWORK: Jon Taylor Sweet MANAGEMENT: Brent Shows David Kushner Socials • Instagram: • TikTok: • Twitter: • YouTube: / followkush • Facebook: • Website: Miserable Music Group, LLC
