Dream Date is a lighthearted 1989 romantic comedy TV movie about a widowed, overprotective father (Clifton Davis) who, fearing the motives of his teenage daughter’s first date with the high school football captain (Kadeem Hardison), hilariously tags along under the pretense of his own date with the school nurse. Featuring familiar faces from 80s sitcoms, it’s a harmless and nostalgic watch with humor, best enjoyed by fans of vintage television movies. Originally titled Home by Midnight. Storyline: Billie's daughter (Tempestt Bledsoe) is going on her first date. Since he was a real girl chaser in high school, he is sure her date will be the same. So he gets a date with the school nurse, so he (a widower) can follow her around and make sure she doesn't get into trouble. Dream Date remains a nostalgic example of late-80s TV comedies, combining teen romance, family humor, and the era’s sitcom-style storytelling. We do not own the rights to any of this film. The Ernest Green Story is a 1993 American made-for-television biographical film which follows the true story of Ernest Green (Morris Chestnut) and eight other African American high-school students (dubbed the "Little Rock Nine") as they embark on their historic journey to integrate Little Rock Central High School in Little Rock, Arkansas, in 1957. The film was developed and executive produced by Carol Ann Abrams. Much of the movie was filmed on location at Central High School. The film had its world premiere at Little Rock Central High School, with an introduction by President-Elect of the United States Bill Clinton. It aired on the Disney Channel on January 17, 1993. Later that year, A.M.L. Productions and the Disney Channel received a Peabody Award for presenting "a story which reminds adults and teaches children about the courageous steps taken toward the elimination of discrimination in American society". Reception: The movie generally gained positive reception from viewers. It is often shown in schools to teach students about the Little Rock Nine. In an interview given by young reporters from Arkansas, Ernest Green explained that the movie portrayed his year at Central High very accurately, highlighting the highs and lows of that year and bringing to light the most challenging and triumphant parts. Cornbread, Earl and Me is a 1975 American coming-of-age drama film that stars Tierre Turner, Laurence Fishburne (in his film debut), and NBA player Jamaal Wilkes. It was directed and co-produced by Joseph Manduke. The film is loosely based on the 1966 Ronald Fair novel Hog Butcher. Plot: High school basketball star Nathaniel "Cornbread" Hamilton (Keith Wilkes) is the pride of his urban neighborhood, and he appears destined for big things on the court and in the classroom. But a dare leads to a fatal misunderstanding when Nathaniel is shot dead by police who take him for someone who's just committed a violent crime. As police officers try to protect one of their own, members of the oppressed African-American community do what they must in order to find justice. Storyline: Nathaniel "Cornbread" Hamilton was the black urban dream and a hero to youngsters Wilford Robinson and Earl Carter. Shortly before he would have become the first man from his community to go to college, he demonstrates his scholarship-winning running ability to his friends and admirers in the neighborhood. At the same time, the police are on a manhunt for an armed rapist. They mistake Cornbread for the rapist and shoot him dead in the street. In the aftermath of the community's shattered dream, and in the face of an intimidating police cover-up, Wilford is determined not to betray the memory of his hero. Freedom Song is a 2000 biographical made-for-television drama film based on true stories of the Civil Rights Movement in Mississippi in the 1960s. It tells the story of the struggle of African Americans to register to vote in the fictional town of Quinlan. In the midst of the Freedom Summer, a group of high school students in the small town are eager to make grassroots changes in their own community. The young activists meet resistance not only from white southerners, but from their parents, who have experienced firsthand the violence that can result from speaking out. As high school students band together with the support of the Student Nonviolent Coordinating Committee, they make strides in registering African American voters and gaining awareness for their cause. The film was made for television and released on February 27, 2000, on the TNT TV channel in the United States. It was written and directed by Phil Alden Robinson and co-written by Stanley Weiser. Winner of the Image Award, Writers Guild of America award, and Golden Gate Award, it stars Danny Glover, Vicellous Reon Shannon, and Vondie Curtis-Hall. Storyline: A tale about a young man's struggle for equality and justice and basic American rights in 1960s Mississippi and the harrowing ordeals people wanting the same opportunities endured, before Blacks were allowed to vote, and when they did sit-ins at White establishments. The young man, Owen (Vicellous Reon Shannon), is at odds with his father Will (Danny Glover) who is afraid his son's anti-segregation activities will jeopardize the family's livelihood and safety. Review: "Freedom Song" is a surprising, powerful, emotional, sometimes funny, always honest look at the civil rights movement. This is a wonderfully told story. It focuses mostly on teenagers, and it's fascinating. This film is an impressive re-telling of how the non-violent emphasis within that movement led to its eventual success. Carole King's "Song of Freedom" is a great anthem for the film. America is a deeply racist nation, so unsurprisingly there is a lot of bigotry in this movie. Everyone should have a right to vote. No matter what race or ethnic group. America was based on freedom and liberty at its founding, but white Americans didn't extend that same freedom and liberty to the hundreds of thousands of black people they held in slavery. I live in Alabama and right now in May 2026 white people are doing their very best to diminish the power of the black vote and deny African Americans political representation in Alabama and across the South. In May 1963, Birmingham, Alabama became infamous for its use of fire hoses and police dogs on marching African American students during the civil rights protests against segregation. Black people were beaten bloody in Selma, Alabama in 1965 simply for marching for the right to vote. The Supreme Court has dismantled the ensuing Voting Rights Act of 1965. In 2026 in Montgomery, Alabama, the site of the 1955-56 Bus Boycott, 70 years later, amid protests, flooding and evacuations, the Alabama Legislature passed special election bills that produce a racial gerrymander. The struggle continues... We do not own the rights to any of this film. This film is being used for historical and educational purposes only. No copyright infringement intended. Black Excellence:
