Dream Date is a lighthearted 1989 romantic comedy TV movie about a widowed, overprotective father (Clifton Davis) who, fearing the motives of his teenage daughter’s first date with the high school football captain (Kadeem Hardison), hilariously tags along under the pretense of his own date with the school nurse. Featuring familiar faces from 80s sitcoms, it’s a harmless and nostalgic watch with humor, best enjoyed by fans of vintage television movies. Originally titled Home by Midnight. Storyline: Billie's daughter (Tempestt Bledsoe) is going on her first date. Since he was a real girl chaser in high school, he is sure her date will be the same. So he gets a date with the school nurse, so he (a widower) can follow her around and make sure she doesn't get into trouble. Cotton Comes to Harlem is a 1970 American neo-noir action comedy film co-written and directed by Ossie Davis and starring Godfrey Cambridge, Raymond St. Jacques, and Redd Foxx. The film, later cited as an early example of the Blaxploitation genre, is based on Chester Himes' novel of the same name. The opening theme, "Ain't Now But It's Gonna Be", was written by Ossie Davis and performed by Melba Moore. The film was one of the many black films that appeared in the 1970s and became overnight hits. It was followed two years later by the sequel Come Back, Charleston Blue (1972). Synopsis: Two Harlem cops investigate a robbery, believing that a reverend has staged it in order to steal the money he's collected for a local fundraiser. Storyline: Gravedigger Jones and Coffin Ed Johnson are two black cops with a reputation for breaking the odd head. Both are annoyed at the success of the Reverend Deke O'Mailey who is selling trips back to Africa to the poor on the installment plan. When his truck is hijacked and a bale of cotton stuffed with money is lost in the chase, Harlem is turned upside down by Gravedigger and Coffin Ed, the Reverend, and the hijackers. Hilarity ensues!Much of the humor is urban black, which was unusual in 1970. Production: The film saw the debut of Calvin Lockhart, Judy Pace, and Cleavon Little. Another debut was by Redd Foxx, already well known as a veteran nightclub comic, leading him to be considered for the TV Show Sanford and Son. Themes: Cotton Comes to Harlem is hailed by many as the first blaxploitation film, although others felt that it was merely an action comedy film. Detectives Gravedigger and Coffin Ed do not always follow the rules. They are not necessarily fighting to protect the rule of law, but they try to protect their people from racist attitudes. Reception: Ken Hanke of the Mountain Xpress called Cotton Comes to Harlem "one of the earliest and best Blaxploitation films. Box Office: Cotton Comes to Harlem is one of the most commercially successful films Hollywood produced in the 1970s starring a predominantly black cast. The film was one of the many black films that appeared in the 1970s eventually becoming a cult classic. Cotton Comes to Harlem inspired more black films during the 1970s, including more action-packed numbers such as Shaft and Super Fly. We do not own the rights to any of this film. A look at the 1950s muscle men's magazines and the representative industry which were popular supposedly as health and fitness magazines, but were in reality primarily being purchased by the still-underground homosexual community. Chief among the purveyors of this literature was Bob Mizer, who maintained a magazine and developed sexually inexplicit men's films for over 40 years. Aided by his mother, the two maintained a stable of not so innocent studs.

Quadroon (1971), also known as The Color of Truth, is a low-budget historical drama and early blaxploitation film set in 1830s New Orleans and starring Kathrine McKee. Directed by Jack Weis, the film explores the racial caste system of the antebellum South through the story of a "quadroon" woman (a person of one-quarter Black and three-quarters White ancestry) living as an enslaved person. It is noted for being one of the first blaxploitation films to focus on slavery, predating more famous and high-budget "slavesploitation" movies like Mandingo (1975) and Drum (1976). Quadroon is a landmark film that confronts the harsh realities of race, identity, and forbidden love in the pre-Civil War American South. The 1971 exploitation film Quadroon was filmed and set on location in New Orleans, Louisiana. The production featured scenes in the French Quarter and surrounding areas, focusing on the 1830s antebellum era and the historical "plaçage" system. Theme: Set in 19th-century Louisiana, Quadroon follows a young creole woman of mixed heritage whose life is shaped by rigid racial caste systems and unjust social hierarchies. As love, loyalty, and family collide, she must navigate a society determined to define her worth by bloodlines rather than humanity. The film exposes the emotional cost of racism while highlighting resilience, dignity, and the struggle for self-determination. Although the acting and production may be subpar, this emotionally charged period drama remains an important cinematic milestone that challenged audiences to confront America’s racial past with honesty and emotional depth. It is a socially significant story dealing with the complicated history of race and caste in America. Storyline: The story follows Caleb, a young Yankee from Boston who arrives in New Orleans and loses his money in a gambling match against a cruel slaveholder named Monsieur Dupree. To support himself, Caleb becomes a tutor for young women of mixed race who are being raised to become "erudite concubines" for wealthy white men. He falls in love with one of his students, Coral (Kathrine McKee), but finds himself in conflict with Dupree, who intends to purchase her at an auction. We do not own the rights to any of this film.
