No Way Out is a 1950 American crime drama film noir directed by Joseph L. Mankiewicz and starring Sidney Poitier in his film debut, alongside Richard Widmark, Linda Darnell and Stephen McNally. The film centers on an African American doctor who confronts the racism of a poor slum after he treats a racist white criminal. Nominated for the 1950 Oscar for Best Writing, Story and Screenplay, this intense drama about racial hatred pulls no punches. One of the first Hollywood films to directly address racism. No Way Out was controversial in its "graphic representation of racial violence" in what director Mankiewicz termed "the absolute blood and guts of Negro hating." The film marked the feature-acting debuts of Poitier, Mildred Joanne Smith, and Ossie Davis. Richard Widmark delivers one of his most chilling roles. Mankiewicz and Lesser Samuels were nominated for Best Story and Screenplay at the 23rd Academy Awards. It is a gripping film noir and Sidney Poitier’s powerful debut, following a Black doctor whose treatment of an injured white criminal sparks intense racial tension in a working-class community. Directed by Joseph L. Mankiewicz, it blends crime drama and social commentary, tackling racism with rare candor for its era. Praised for Poitier’s commanding performance and the film’s boldness, it remains a powerful, unsettling classic worth watching for its historical and cinematic impact. Released during the early days of the Civil Rights Movement, No Way Out received critical acclaim but faced censorship for many years due to its incendiary nature. Storyline: The Biddle brothers, shot while robbing a gas station, are taken to the prison ward of the County Hospital; Ray Biddle, a rabid racist, wants no treatment from black resident Dr. Luther Brooks. When brother John dies while Luther tries to save him, Ray is certain it's murder and becomes obsessed with vengeance and the situation slides rapidly toward violence. Trivia: Richard Widmark was apparently very uncomfortable with some of the racist comments his character, Ray Biddle, made, especially given his friendship with Sidney Poitier. As a result, after some of the takes involving particularly venomous remarks, Widmark apologized to Poitier. We do not own the rights to any of this film. Of One Blood is a 1944 American race film directed, written by and starring Spencer Williams. The film focuses on two orphaned African American brothers who grow up to become a lawyer and a police officer, and who work together to break up a crime ring run by a miscreant who turns out to be their long-lost oldest brother. Plot: Orphaned brothers grow up to become a police officer and a lawyer, and work to rid their city of a bootlegging gang. Like many race films, all of Williams' works were thought to have been lost. At the time, films were printed on nitrate film, which is highly flammable and liable to decompose, and only a few prints of Williams' films were made due to their low budget. However, most of his 1940s films have been rediscovered; including Of One Blood. A copy has been preserved at the Library of Congress. We do not own the rights to any of this film. Also stars Stanley Clay and Ted Ross. It is considered a lost gem in television history and is often sought after by fans of the genre. Billionaire entrepreneur Mark Cuban, as he shares the raw truths about artificial intelligence, sales, and the reality of building an empire. Mark Cuban is a legendary American billionaire, investor, and former shark on ABC's Shark Tank, best known for transforming the Dallas Mavericks into NBA champions and building multi-million dollar tech enterprises like Broadcast.com and MicroSolutions. Today, he is fully dedicated to disrupting the American healthcare industry through his revolutionary online pharmacy, Cost Plus Drugs. *In this episode, he explains:* ■ *The AI Illusion:* How artificial intelligence is simply a brute force pattern matcher that lacks true human intelligence, meaning the real edge belongs to humans who leverage it to “out prepare” and “out learn” the competition. ■ *The Power of Sales:* Why very successful business is fundamentally built on sales, and mastering the ability to handle objections and rejection guarantees you a job for life. ■ *The Danger of Quick Money:* How modern social media algorithms feed youth an illusion of instant wealth, holding back a generation that refuses to put in the grueling preparation required to master a skill. ■ *The Chemistry of Leadership:* How turning around a failing sports franchise or a business requires ruthless commitment to team culture, hiring slowly, firing fast, and replacing ego with collective alignment. ■ *The True Definition of Success:* Why true wealth is ultimately about controlling your own time and destiny rather than buying luxury items, and prioritizing family above all else remains the ultimate life achievement. 00:00:00 Intro 00:02:10 Why Being Adaptable Matters 00:03:03 My Upbringing 00:04:34 My First Business: Selling Garbage Bags at 12 00:06:12 How to Become a Great Salesperson 00:08:28 The Biggest Mistakes Young Entrepreneurs Make 00:11:11 What All Millionaires Have in Common 00:13:32 How I Transformed the Dallas Mavericks 00:18:42 Hate Your Job but Have Little Savings?
